Flight sharing

Cessna 172
  • Are you a new PPL unable to afford self fly hire or an aircraft share?
  • Are you an aircraft owner shackled by increasing flying costs?
  • Are you keen to try new aircraft types and meet other pilots?

There are many reasons why pilots give up flying, whether it's increasing costs in the current economic climate, flying club closures or a growing dissatisfaction with local bimbles in the same aircraft type. Flight sharing offers a solution to all of these and is an ideal way to meet pilots and try new types.

This free service is provided to help you make flight sharing arrangements with pilots in your local area. You can search for flight share offers and requests, and post an offer or request (or both!) on the site for others to find.

We'd really like to know how successful this service is and how it could be improved, so please email support@goflying.org if you have any comments or you've used the service to arrange a flight.

Safety

We believe that general aviation is one of the most friendly communities you could hope to be a part of, and we hope that this service will help you keep flying and meet great people. However there is inevitably some risk involved.

The following list is only intended to provoke thought. Common sense should prevail!

  • Be honest on your advert.
  • If possible, arrange to meet before the flight or start with a simple local flight.
  • Agree cost sharing or payment in kind before the flight.
  • Bring your log book and license when you go flying.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for proof of qualifications.
  • Don't be offended if you're asked for proof of qualifications.
  • Don't be afraid to cancel a flight at late notice.
